Here is an update from one of our Tutors Don Gale.

“Summer’s fast approaching, and we’ve got several photography workshops in the final planning stages.
But, prior to our next weekend workshop, we’re pleased to announce that Don will resume his weekly teaching of “The Basics of Lighting” at Tri-Community Photography center in Covina, CA. This evening class takes place throughout the summer, on Wednesdays from 7-10 PM. The first session will begin next Wednesday, June 23rd. In our effort to avoid the dog days of summer, we’ve cleverly scheduled our next 5 excursions to locations that typically provide mild weather, at higher elevations, and near mountain lakes and streams.
Our first getaway will be up into the Eastern Sierra mountain canyon, just above Bishop, CA. We will be staying at one of our favorite places, Parcher’s Resort (www.parchersresort.net) Complete with rustic, but modern, private mountain cabins, we’re situated on the banks of two mountain streams, and a very short drive to 3 pristine alpine lakes. Tent and RV camping is also available. This typically is prime wildflower season at this location. The meadow immediately adjacent the resort is loaded with Lupine, Indian Paintbrush, Shooting Stars and Tiger Lilies. Great macro opportunities. Dates for this annual event are set for July 11-15. *Cost $550.
The next weekend adventure is slated for the Northern California resort of Lake Tahoe, where we’ll be based on the western shore, right on the lake We’ve rented a large multi-bedroom cabin for our group to share. Complete with a large meeting room, a full kitchen, outdoor decks and barbeques, we’ll have plenty of space for meals, classroom slide shows and image critiques. It’s a short, scenic drive from the airport in Reno. The dates for this session are August 5-9. *Cost $550.
Next, it’s on to the Southern California mountain resort of Big Bear Lake. Less than a 2 hour drive from LA, you’ll feel like you’re a million miles away. In a similar style, we are renting a fully equipped, large mountain cabin that will accommodate our group. The dates for this workshop are August 13-15. *Cost $550.
The first weekend of October will have us returning to Bishop Canyon in the Eastern Sierra Mountains, for the amazing fall color display. The Aspen trees here present an annual, spectacular display of colors, and we’ll be back at Parcher’s Resort (www.parchersresort.net) to get our share of photographs. Located about 30 minutes west of Bishop, at about 9,000 feet, this area has numerous options for photographing the Quaking Aspens, either on the shoreline of a crystal-clear lake, or nestled against the marsh covered bank of a mountain stream. October 1-4. *Cost $475.
Then, we’re off to one of the world’s finest displays of autumn color, glorious New England. And, for this adventure, our group will be staying together in a large, lakeside cabin, on the shore of Lake Pawtuckaway, in southern New Hampshire. Full kitchen, fireplace, meeting area and numerous outdoor decks and barbeques. Convenient flights into Boston, MA, or Manchester, NH. October 10-15. *Cost 950.
*Cost of workshop includes continental breakfast each morning and typically a BBQ one evening. It does not include travel or lodging expenses.
