Adveturafrica has one Eyes On Nature workshop left on our calendar for the year, and it’s sure to not disappoint for those looking to broaden their photography skills in an adventure setting. While Tanzania has the big name parks such as Serengeti and Ngorongoro, southern Uganda certainly holds its own with highlights such as Kibale Forest National Park, home to the largest variety of primates in eastern Africa (13 different species), as well as Queen Elizabeth National Park. Wildlife, landscape and post-production workflow will be the focus of this unique, informal, fun workshop. We will have discussions and assistance on specialized topics such as long lens technique, projection flash usage, action shooting, wildlife observation, field craft and east African animal behavior. Advanced techniques will be constantly discussed, demonstrated and practiced. This workshop, available September 5-17, is all about shooting; lots of shooting, whether it’s from the field or from onboard our specially designed safari truck.
Lodging for this itinerary is a mix of camping (Lake Mburo, Lake Edward, Maramagambo) and lodges/hotels/guesthouses (Mweya Peninsula, Chimpanzee Forest Guesthouse). Participation is limited to 6 guests.
*Cost $3,700.

In terms of adventure travels and expeditions, the month of August is dedicated to Tanzania. First up is our Tanzania South trip. From August 1-17 we will cover lesser known locales such as Selous Game Reserve and Ruaha National Park. These, and other off-the-beaten path locales, often times get overlooked on the account of their more famous counterparts up north, but that’s exactly what their appeal is – they offer more of the unspoiled wilderness safari experience. Don’t be at all surprised if you find our group the only humans in some of the more remote areas. Shopping in local markets, walking safaris, park exploration and wildlife viewing and tracking are only some of the activities to look forward to. Although lodging for this itinerary is a mix of camping (Kipepeo Beach, Lake Tagalala) and local hotels/lodges/guesthouses, we consider this an adventure trip (see Adventurafrica’s philosophy page for categories) due to some remote and undeveloped campsites and some road conditions involved during travel. Participation is limited to 12 guests.
*Cost $2,950.

The latter half of the month of August will find Adventurafrica in northern Tanzania. This is it. When most people think of safaris, Serengeti, Ngorongoro and Tarangire come to mind. This is the classic safari circuit, where park exploration and wildlife viewing are the focus. Lodging for this itinerary is a mix of developed campsites and local lodges/hotels/guesthouses. Participation is limited to 12 guests.
*Cost $3,300.

Adveturafrica’s final expedition for the year lands in southern Uganda. Following the photo workshop of the first half of the month, from September 19 – October 1 we will retrace that itinerary, only this time there will be no formal photography instruction involved, although we can hardly resist our nature and tips and suggestions may still be shared among the group. Lodging for this itinerary is the same as the workshop – camping and lodges/hotels/guesthouses. Participation is limited to 12 guests.
*Cost $2,750.

*All prices include park entrance fees, all accommodations (based on double occupancy for hotels, lodges, guesthouses), all meals, service of guides and drivers, all land transportation onboard our safari truck, airport transfers to and from hotels, cost of emergency treatment and evacuation (if necessary) through AMREF.
