WORKSHOP

Tre Cime di Lavaredo – Dolomites – Italy

Photo tour from 18 to 19 June 2011.

Tre Cime di Lavaredo at sunset

An exclusive 2-day workshop in the alpine region of the Dolomites of Sesto – a Unesco Heritage site. This course is appropriate for all photographers with a minimum of photographic equipment and an average level of technical expertise.

The Tre Cime di Lavaredo is one of the “monuments” of the Dolomites. Our tour will provide access to several viewpoints, thus offering a unique photographic tour around this unique and fascinating mountain range. Together with the Dolomites of Sesto and Cadore, which surround the Tre Cime, these mountains shape a region of unparalleled beauty and charm, known all around the world. During this two days trek we will be shooting under the best lighting conditions to emphasize the warm colors of the cliffs, focusing on reportage photography, looking for unconventional shots and developing a personal style. Being led by two photographers, this trek will allow for the splitting of the group. One group will focus more on photography, while the other one might be more interested in the hiking part. It’ your choice!

PhotoFarm staff reserves the right to modify the proposed itinerary due to weather conditions, snow, possible hazards along the trail, or on the spot evaluation of the conditions and itinerary requests by the participants.
The proposed itinerary is designed with safety as a priority and we will be assisted at all times by a certified Alpine Guide, who will be responsible for continuously monitoring the safety of the group and the hiking trails.
Keep in mind though, that this tour takes place in a wild and rugged place, where care is to be taken at all times and a certain level of fitness and familiarity with the alpine environment is required.
No special training is required to attend the course, but suitable clothing is highly recommended. As a minimum, we request that you bring hiking boots and a backpack able to carry food and extra clothing.

High altitude might cause discomfort to susceptible persons. The workshop will take place at an altitude range of 1500-2500m. At this altitude, it is normal to feel a greater difficulty in moving or to experience difficulty sleeping. Our guide is fully equipped and trained to manage this type of problems.

Cellphones’ reception is not guaranteed. In case of emergency, PhotFarm staff and the accompanying Alpine Guide will be able to provide first-aid and medical evacuation by radio. Emergency contacts are available in all alpine shelters by radio and telephone. The closest qualified medical help is only 10km away.

If you rent a car, keep in mind that you DO NOT NEED a 4×4. A regular passenger car will be perfectly ok to reach the meeting point. The nearest international airport is Verona. Other convenient options (which have rental car facilities) are the Milan airports: Linate, Malpensa Orio al Serio.

Alpine huts do not provide hotel-style accommodation, but simpler solutions in tune with the surrounding environment. They are equipped with shared, multi-bed rooms, up to 8-9 beds per room. Some level of adaptation and camaraderie is highly encouraged. Meals (dinners are included) are NOT a la carte, but fix menu.

You are responsible for your own lunch. Upon request, the alpine hut will provide lunch boxes.

Meeting:

Independent transfer to the meeting point (Auronzo di Cadore). The exact meeting time and place will be communicated to participants as soon as the group is finalized.
