Manfrotto, the world leader in the design, production and distribution of equipment and accessories for the photography and imaging industry, has won two prizes at the 2012 edition of one of the world most prestigious design competitions: the Red Dot Design Awards. The two Manfrotto winning products have been chosen by the international jury among a total of 4,515 projects, submitted by designers and companies from 58 countries.

According to the jury’s advice, the SYMPLA Rig System and the 502HD System stood out for their unique and innovative design, wisely combined with technology and using ease.

The SYMPLA Rig System, an innovative, beautiful modular solution for HDSLR’s and camcorders. Sympla, which will be presented for the first time at the forthcoming NAB Show in Las Vegas, has already raised great excitement within the industry: thanks to easier, safer and more comfortable usage, it just makes videographer’s life simpler.

The MVK502AM, an innovative telescoping video kit incorporating the MVH502A fluid head and the MVT502AM tripod. The system, featuring lightweight, compactness and unexpected sturdiness, already represents a game-change in design and technology for all professional videographers.

In addition, the Imaging & Staging Division of the Vitec Group – to which Manfrotto belongs – has been awarded with three further prizes, respectively assigned to: the Gitzo Systematic tripod range (a completely redesigned tripod family launched in January 2012), the new Kata 3N1 (Kata’s most protective and professional sling backpack) and, last but not least, the ultimate Kata Revolver, confirming Kata leading role in innovative photo and video bags.

Gitzo Systematic range incorporate the very latest technological features, the best quality materials and the most innovative construction techniques in order to provide exacting photographers with practical improvements in performance.

The Pro-Light Revolver-8 is a totally new bag and concept, packed with pure ingenuity. With the Revolver-8 backpack, photographers can carry their main camera as well as 5 different backup lenses, and access each of the lenses without lowering the bag to the ground. Moreover, the lenses compartment opens from the side and the user just needs to spin the revolving internal compartment around its axis to reach the chosen lens. This way the user doesn't need to expose the entire compartment to the elements or prying eyes, and yet can access any of the lenses with ease.

The awarding of Manfrotto, Gitzo and Kata products by such an international top class jury confirms, once again, the value of Italian quality design, positioning Manfrotto among the world most valuable companies in innovation, research and development.

Winners’ awarding ceremony is scheduled on 2 July 2012, at  Aalto-Theater in Essen (Germany). This year’s gala, titled “Red Dot Award: Product Design”, is expected to be attended by more than 1,000 international guests from design, industry, politics and media.
